Year One Partners — Senior Strategic AdvisorsENESBook a call

Our approach

Year One Partners works with companies from any country that are entering or growing in Spain within the digital economy. We start from the decision, not from a catalogue of services: before discussing licences, partners or structure, we understand what your board needs to decide, on what timetable and with what risk. Our reach is international: Spain and Europe, for companies from any market.

A senior lead owns the sequence

In every engagement, a senior lead owns the sequence from start to finish. That person is your point of contact and looks after the coherence of the plan as a whole. When entering Spain, the order matters as much as each piece: a permit requested late, a conversation with the authorities that comes too early or a partner chosen without understanding the channel can hold up everything else. That is why we sequence first and execute second.

We coordinate your specialists without replacing them

Your entry into Spain needs lawyers, tax advisers, auditors and, depending on the sector, other specialists. You choose them and the relationship with them stays yours. We coordinate their work so that each piece arrives when it is needed, and we keep the business decision at the centre. We are not a law firm, an audit firm or a regulated investment firm, and we do not provide legal advice. When your activity needs a licence or an authorisation, we help you see the route to authorisation, before whom and in what order, with your legal advisers.

How we sequence an entry

  1. The decision. What you want to achieve in Spain, what can wait and what cannot.
  2. The requirements. Which permits, licences or authorisations may apply to your activity, and whether your investment may require prior approval from the Spanish authorities. Your legal advisers confirm this.
  3. The people. Who matters in your market and when to engage each of them.
  4. The plan. A Spain market entry plan: what comes first, who to talk to and what can wait until a second phase.

If your entry involves an acquisition or a joint venture, we test the thesis through our M&A service before capital is committed. If you need someone senior in charge while you build your team, interim management covers that period.

The same standard across the digital economy

Our method applies equally to the nine sectors of the digital economy: manufacturing, agriculture and energy; financial services, retail and travel; government, education and healthcare. From one sector to the next, the regulators, buyers and local partners change. Sectors: Industry · Consumer · Society.

Spain can be a strong base for Europe, but it does not give automatic access to the European Union.

What you can expect from us

Clarity about the order of things, about what depends on you and about what depends on third parties. We do not promise timings or outcomes, which depend on public authorities, supervisors or partners.

Before starting any engagement we identify the client and its ultimate beneficial owner and apply the due diligence required by anti-money laundering law. We do not provide services to persons or entities subject to European Union or United Nations restrictive measures, or where those measures prohibit the service.
